Our Group Arrives

Tonight was our first class meeting which left us today to explore on our own.  Palau de la Musica Catalans came highly recommended, so we purchased tickets online to tour it with an English speaking guide.  The father of Modernist architecture in Barcelona, Luis Domenech, designed this building which was built in three years.  It is truly an amazing example of modernism with the 2100 seat concert hall wowing visitors.  Every square foot is a feast to the eyes including the Muses decorating the stages, the dropped stained glass center light fixture and the many ceramic docorations lining the hall.  Very worth the visit.

We again strolled back through the Gothic Quarter and partook in a little more shopping (surprise!) which netted several purchases.  It really is quite lovely and relaxing and worth the stroll on successive days.

Tonight, our group gathered for the first time.  Introductions were made between participants meeting for the first time and old friends shared exchanges to catch up since last meeting.  We walked to a lovely dinner at l’Olive.  The shared appetizers were amazing and included fried artichoke hearts (a favorite), olives, anchovies, duck, and many more.  Main courses were served followed by a choice of chocolate truffles or an apple dessert.  Three birthdays were celebrated.  It was a great way to start the workshop.

Tomorrow: Park Güell
